The Chamber Music Society of St. Louis (CMSSL) is presenting a free “Thank You” concert at The Sheldon on Monday, May 21, in place of its rescheduled 10th Anniversary Gala.
The “Notes from Hollywood—The Sequel” gala featuring Leonard Slatkin was postponed following Slatkin’s heart bypass surgery. Slatkin was discharged from the hospital yesterday following a successful triple bypass operation. He is now home, and is said to be recovering well. He’ll be undergoing physical therapy as part of his recovery process.
Chamber executive and artistic director Marc Gordon says the gala’s rescheduled date will be announced soon.
“It is simply out of the question to try to replace Leonard Slatkin for a program with music that revolves around him and his stories/experiences related to the music on our program,” Gordon said.
The May 21 concert at The Sheldon begins at 7:30 p.m. Doors open for free admission/open seating at 7 p.m. VIP ticket holders, concert-only ticket holders and vendors have been issued invitations by CMSSL to show its appreciation for the collective loyalty and support.
VIP and concert-only tickets will be honored for the rescheduled gala date; tickets for the new date can also be pre-ordered through the CMSSL website, chambermusicstl.org.
