Ever since the launch of It Cosmetics in 2008, the brand has been releasing one hit product after another. And despite being sold to L’Oreal in 2016, it has kept its fire burning on the market. Today, I’m going to be reviewing the brand’s Superhero Anti-Aging palette.

The palette consists of three “eye foundation” shades and nine regular eye shadows. Upon first look, all of the regular shades seemed shimmery, but with a closer look, I realized that there was a matte shade or two. Even still, it can be concluded even by just opening it that there are almost no transitional shades in the palette. A transitional shade is usually matte, and is used to blend out the other strong dominant colors that are included. Without it, your shadow ends up looking like one (not hot) mess. The eye foundation shades are also too light to be used for this purpose.

Despite this downfall, the colors that are included in the palette are stunning. The shades make for a great smoky eye, and provide a variety of options. Some good shade combinations include:

Superhero and Bold

Superhero and Unstoppable

Powerful and Fearless

Fearless and Unstoppable

I was disappointed after discovering that the shadows look different on the skin than they do on the palette, but I persisted. The shades were surprisingly hard to work with, and I found that the product seemed to fuse to the skin rather than blend. They also do not transfer as pigmented as they look.

From the standpoint of someone who enjoys using makeup products to create beautifully dramatic looks, this product is not so great. However, from the point of view of the average woman who simply wears makeup to enhance her beauty, this is a very good product. The decrease in pigmentation allows the average consumer to build their product, rather than having it pile on all at once and creating a disaster. Products that are very pigmented can be extremely difficult to work with if you are a beginner, which is why it is so important to know what you should start with.

This palette is a hit for its user-friendly qualities. My favorite part is that it pairs with the versatile superhero eye shadow brush, which is perfect for women not wanting to purchase an excess amount of brushes. It can be used to apply shadow most easily in the crease, and can even be extended into a blending brush.

Easy to use for the less-experienced, this palette is not too bold and has neutral and adventurous colors, allowing for the consumer to switch things up for special occasions or when she is feeling extra sassy.

Gazelle STL gives the It Cosmetics Superhero Anti-Aging Palette: 7/10.
