In anticipation of its upcoming 100th milestone anniversary, The Muny announced its much-awaited season lineup for 2018.
The Muny will be the first theatre in the U.S. to produce two Tony Award-winning Best Musicals: “Jersey Boys” and “Jerome Robbins’ Broadway.” In addition, what’s being described as an “epic season” will feature classics like the all-time Muny family favorite, “Annie,” and, in its first production in 36 years, “The Wiz.” Joining these four shows will be two great American musical classics: “Gypsy” and “Singin’ in the Rain.” And finally, in its long-awaited return to the Muny stage after nine years, a show dear to the hearts of so many St. Louisans, “Meet Me In St. Louis.”
“This is an incredible moment in our history to celebrate a 100th season, and I think these titles are a great nod to our history and future,” said Muny president and CEO Denny Reagan. “I’m excited to share with our audiences the memories and thrills these shows will bring next summer.”
In addition to the announcement of the 2018 lineup, officials also announced several events that will take place next year in commemoration of the milestone anniversary.
On May 18, a Centennial Gala will be held at The Muny that will transform the campus into “A Night with the Stars,”complete with a show produced especially for the evening. Tickets for the gala will be available begining Nov. 1; and show-only tickets will be available sometime in the spring.
On May 20, a Community Birthday Party, also at The Muny, will be a free, family-friendly gathering that will feature live, local entertainment, as well as demonstrations from Muny craftspeople and “mini-musicals” throughout the day.
In June 2018, the exhibit, “Muny Memories: 100 Seasons on Stage,” will open at the Missouri History Museum. From June 9 through June 2, 2019, the exhibition will highlight recollections from Muny stars and staff over the years, as well as a “backstage peek” and an opportunity for visitors to leave their own Muny memory.
Since its first opening night on June 5, 1917, approximately 56 million people have attended a show at The Muny, 10 million of them at no cost. The Muny is the country’s oldest outdoor theater, and also is the second-oldest theater in the U.S.
“We wanted to go big for the 100th, and this season is really big,” said Mike Isaacson, The Muny’s artistic director and executive producer. “It promises so many great nights of beauty, power, joy and passion. These seven shows celebrate The Muny’s august past and point us toward our incredible future. Here we go!”

Dates for individual shows, as well as ticket information for the 2018 season, will be anounced at a later time.
