“A woman’s hat is close to her heart, though she wears it on her head. It is her way of saying to the world: See this is what I am like – or this is what I would like to be.”
– Fashion/Hat Designer Lilly Dache
Don’t Be Afraid
Don’t be afraid of wearing a hat. You just have to find the style that works for you. You can still look great without breaking the bank, with a high-end look at an affordable price. When you are looking for a hat, it is all about your personal style. Hat options I love are wide-brim hats, panama, newsboy, beret and fedora, to name a few. So do not be scared to wear hats, because there is one out there for you. Get out there and try as many as you can, and be confident in the one you choose.
Finding The Perfect Hat
Finding a hat you love is the most important thing when starting your hat journey. It needs to have a good fit and flatter the face. This style of hat that I am wearing is the “newsboy” hat from Target. Newsboy hats are very much in style at the moment and can be seen on everyone, ranging from your favorite celebs to people on the street. This particular hat is not too tight, but has a fit that stays put. Each style is different, but this one needs to be snug, and should feel great when going about your day.
All About Colors
Searching for color is the exciting part of the hat buying process. When starting out with fashion hats, one can’t go wrong with basic colors, such as black and brown. They are chic, timeless colors that are my personal favorites. Each of these colors will also pair well with just about any look. I paired my brown newsboy hat with an all-black outfit, which is easy to style. Here are the things I chose to wear: a black top, faux leather skirt, and your accessories. By adding a warm brown-colored hat, it adds a subtle pop of color, without being the star of the show.
Black Is Always In Style
A street style-inspired look is what this next outfit is all about. Start with a graphic tee and jeans, and top it off with a blazer to elevate the ensemble. I have paired a basic black newsboy hat, also from Target, with this look to keep it simple. Having an all-black hat is a staple, especially when working with colored clothing or prints. This way you can just use the hat as an accessory, and let the clothing do the talking.
