Levitt’s body of work showcases street scenes in New York City, where she took her camera to the poorer neighborhoods like Spanish Harlem and the Lower East Side. Her signature black-and-white images of urban life, especially of children playing in the streets has been described as “anti-journalistic” by renowned photographer Walker Evans, a contemporary of Levitt’s with whom she helped make prints for his famous show, “American Photographs,” in 1938.

Photojournalist, writer and filmmaker Lyon has his photographs in museums and collections around the world. His retrospective, “Message to the Future,” was shown in New York City  and San Francisco in 2016 and 2017. This year, the Albuquerque Museum of Art will present his major exhibition, “Danny Lyon – Journey West.”
