Equal parts dreamy and decadent, this oh-so-easy coffee concoction is our best bet for a quick quarantine treat! Dalgona Coffee, a whipped coffee drink made that first gained popularity in South Korea, became an internet sensation in early 2020.
The dessert drink was featured on The Stir’s first SIP (Shelter in Place) Series episode, starring Trish Muyco-Tobin and entertainment columnist, sitcom producer and author Debbie Baldwin. The series’ first installment tackled binge-worthy shows on Netflix, HBO and other streaming services, with a little help from two friends who know how to appreciate fine art of at-home entertainment.

DALGONA COFFEE
Ingredients*
- 2 T instant coffee (Folger’s NOIR Golden Dusk Instant Coffee recommended)
- 1 ½ to 2 T sugar
- 2 T hot water
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- 1 cup cold milk
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Combine coffee, sugar and water in large mixing bowl. Give it a quick stir with a spatula or spoon to combine.
- Use a hand mixer to whip for about 5 minutes, until mixture reaches a consistency similar to Cool Whip. (Note: Do not over-whip. Set the mixer on the middle to second-highest speed setting; using the highest setting may cause the cream to curdle or the soft peaks to collapse.)
- Pour cold milk in a tall glass. Add ice cubes, if desired. Spoon the whipped coffee on top of the milk. Use a spoon or straw to stir. Enjoy!
*Recipe can be easily doubled for two servings.
