St. Louis without its beer, frankly, wouldn’t be the same. No matter the style or which brew fills your stein, we love our hometown breweries, especially in the fall, the time of year when beer festivals roll out the barrels.
Of course, the pandemic has changed how we celebrate. But as the saying goes, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” and the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station and Schlafly have found a safe way to gather and celebrate autumn and beer during two very special events.
Under The Deep Brew Sea at the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station
Late summer swims have always been a favorite of mine. They’re also a favorite with the residents at the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station, the location of a special after-hours event, Under the Deep Brew Sea, from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10.
Presented by Anheuser-Busch, Under the Deep Brew Sea marks the return of the event that made its debut in February. This exclusive after-hours occasion allows guests to combine a visit to the aquarium with a taste of beers and cider from nine different breweries, including Stella Artois, Golden Road, Goose Island, Breck and Cutwater Spirits.
Tickets are $35, and are limited in availability to allow for appropriate social distancing, and please remember, masks are required. For an extra $10, guests can take a discounted ride on the St. Louis Wheel. Guests must be age 21 and up. Each guest will receive a commemorative glass featuring the event logo. Hop into The City or Hop at Home
St. Louis’ original craft brewery has announced plans for its two upcoming festivals. HOP in the City is on Saturday, Sept. 19, with the HOP at Home mixed case, which includes 24 of Schlafly’s most popular and experimental beers. HOP in the City is traditionally an opportunity to taste almost all of Schlafly’s beer portfolio, but this year, guests can take that experience home.
Guests can shop the Art Outside virtual art fair and reserve a HOP at Home mixed case for pickup at The Schlafly Tap Room. Besides the virtual festivals, the brewery will host socially distanced on-site events for both the Art Outside and HOP in the City.
“Both Art Outside and HOP in the City are festivals that are highly anticipated by our guests and everyone here at the brewpub. Celebrating our community over great beer is at the heart of both festivals, so we found a way to continue that experience while staying safe and socially distanced,” said Stephen Hale, founding brewer at Schlafly Beer.
The annual HOP in the City event provides the brewery with the opportunity to showcase its passion for a wide range of beer styles. Similar to Art Outside, there will be limited reserved outside seating at The Schlafly Tap Room on 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19. Tickets are $250 for a group of up to six people and include a reserved table, a bucket of Schlafly beer, a family-style meal with table service, Schlafly swag and a trivia game with prizes.
