Deviled Egg Sandwich, made with KNEAD bread

Do you feel the need for Knead? The Smokehouse Market, next door to Annie Gunn’s in Chesterfield Valley, will now be carrying a curated selection of products from KNEAD bakery, including Bakehouse loaves of bread, shortbread sugar cookies, jams and pickles every weekend while supplies last. The partnership is a special one for KNEAD’s Kirsten and AJ Brown, and one that comes full circle generationally, as Thom and Jane Sehnert, who own Smokehouse Market, are the Browns’ longtime mentors. The KNEAD shortbread sugar cookies were a favorite of Thom’s mom, who passed just a couple of years ago.

Speaking of Cinco de Mayo, St. Louis-based botanically inspired distillery 1220 Artisan Spirits has unveiled its new canned Paloma, available from late April through September at major retailers and at 4 Hands Brewing Co., as well as online for pick up, just in time for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The 6.5% ABV Paloma is made with  100% agave tequila, natural grapefruit and lime juices and a hand-crafted grapefruit soda.

4 Hands Brewing Co. is also pleased to announce the launch of its newest philanthropic beer, State Wide. The new hazy pale ale with notes of citrus and stone fruit will join City Wide as another 4 Hands brew that gives back to the community. A portion of every State Wide purchase will be donated to Veterans Community Project (VCP), an organization dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took an oath to serve the country. Using Kansas City’s as a blueprint, the new VCP Village – St. Louis will be a specialized community of 50 tiny homes with on-site, wraparound support services designed to equip at-risk and homeless veterans with the tools needed to return to a stable, prosperous, independent lives. Construction for the St. Louis project is scheduled to begin this summer. Look for the new 16-ounce four-packs of State Wide at retailers across Missouri starting May 4.

Rosé Day, the annual Central West End wine festival that celebrates the pink summer wine, is back on this year on Saturday, May 1, from noon to 6 p.m. The festival celebrates local nonprofits by donating a portion of its proceeds to an organization that helps women and children. Participants select the nonprofit they want to support when they purchase their “passport” to sample wines at pop-up tasting stations around the Central West End. Social distancing protocol, including masks, will be practiced throughout the festival. Find tickets here.
