A ceremony and concert at Soldiers Memorial Military Museum will honor the legacies of more than 5,000 St. Louis service members this Memorial Day.
On Monday, May 30, the museum will host a ceremony in remembrance of St. Louisans who gave their lives for the country and whose names are engraved on the walls of the Cenotaph and Court of Honor at Soldiers Memorial in downtown St. Louis.
The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and features the laying of wreaths at all the memorials on-site, a POW-MIA ceremony, reading of the names on the Korean War memorial, and remarks by St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones. The ceremony will be followed by a performance from the Air Force Midwest Winds ensemble at noon. Afterward, visitors will be invited to share a memory of a loved one in service on a memory board and place a yellow carnation on the memorial of their choice.
The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day. Guided tours of the “St. Louis in Service” exhibit galleries and the architectural details of the building’s façade will be offered on a regular schedule that day. The museum’s regular operating hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit the Soldier’s Memorial Military Museum website.
