A street art gallery is the newest storefront at City Foundry STL.
Vacancy Gallery aims to showcase under-represented local talent by “highlighting the hidden pockets of culture and creativity within St. Louis.”
The 1,139-square-foot art gallery features magazine-style collages, printed photography from established St. Louis photographers, jewelry and graffiti artwork, with all items available for purchase.
Vacancy also plans to partner with local charities such as Saint Louis Crisis Nursery. Currently, the gallery has dedicated its back wall to display artwork created by children during their art therapy sessions at the nursery. Each piece is available for $50 each, with all proceeds benefiting Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.
Vacancy Gallery is holding a public grand opening celebration on Saturday, July 23, from 7 to 10 p.m., with the first 360 guests to receive a free piece of artwork. Live art from exhibiting artists will be created throughout the evening, and free beer and seltzer samples for those 21 and older, as well as live music, will be on hand.
Vacancy is owned by Gerad Ewing and Chase Callahan (both of Sanctioned Sneaker Collective) and Chicago entrepreneur and art collector Melo Rosario. The gallery is open Wednesdays through Mondays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
