The evening begins with a VIP reception, followed by a benefit concert featuring Brian Owens.

“Brian Owens is definitely going to bring down the house with some of your favorite tunes from the ‘80s,” said Jackie Hamilton, the St. Louis County Library Foundation’s assistant director of advancement. “So dust off your Member’s Only jackets, scrunchies, neon colors and parachute pants – and get ready for a night to remember!”

Hamilton says the evening will truly be a celebration for the St. Louis community.

“Guests should expect a night of celebration like never before,” she said. “This year, the St. Louis County Library system was recognized as a recipient of the 2022 National Medal for Museum and Library Service and selected as the Library of the Year by the Missouri Library Association. We are inviting the entire community to come out and celebrate these accomplishments, as well as SLCL’s 75 years of impactful services and programming!”

Hamilton adds throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to share their fondest library memories and place them in a time capsule.

“Years from now, when the capsule is reopened, we hope these memories will serve as inspiration to our continued legacy of innovation, community impact and commitment to our mission of enriching individual minds, enhancing lives and expanding perspectives,” Hamilton noted.

Proceeds from the event will support library initiatives that are not funded by taxpayer dollars.

Throughout the pandemic, SLCL has been very fortunate to provide amazing programming and services at our branches, like access to an adult high-school education program, fresh produce, tutoring services for students, technology to bridge the digital divide, rental assistance and so much more,” Hamilton said. “This year, being our 75th anniversary, we wanted to host a special celebratory event that would make a lasting impact on our programs and services. Supporting the St. Louis County Library Foundation ensures the St. Louis County Library is able to continue a legacy of quality and sustainable community impact, in addition to its long-standing legacy of providing a vast and expansive library catalog to the community.”

The VIP reception for “Rock Out” begins at 6 p.m., with the concert scheduled for 7 p.m. VIP tickets include pre-concert food and cocktails and orchestra seating for the concert. General admission concert-only tickets are also available. Visit the SLCL Foundation’s event page for more.
