St. Louis Aquarium Hosts Recycling Drive for Mardi Gras Beads

Show us your beads! That’s the message from the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station, where a recycling drive for beads is taking place through the end of the week.

The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation made the announcement today, encouraging St. Louisans to take their beads to the aquarium for recycling now through Sunday, Feb. 26.

The foundation says recycling is important because the type of plastic material beads are made of can end up in the area’s waterways if not disposed of properly.

As an added incentive, anyone who brings beads for recycling will be eligible to win four annual passes to the St. Louis Aquarium. The winner will be selected Monday, Feb. 27.
