More than 300 paintings of one of the world’s most iconic artists will serve as the backdrop for “Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience,” an eye-popping exhibition making its way to St. Louis this fall.

The three-dimensional exhibit created by some of the world’s best audiovisual designers uses cutting-edge projection technology to breathe new life into van Gogh paintings such as “The Starry Night,” “Sunflowers,” “Café Terrace at Night” and “Irises.”

Visitors will find themselves immersed in colors, light and sound, thanks to a symphonic score set to the artist’s own words as larger-than-life projections ebb and flow, focus and refocus, and morph from one masterpiece to the next.

“Beyond Van Gogh” opens in St. Louis on Sept. 16 and will run through Nov. 7 at the new Starry Night Pavilion that will be erected on the south lot of the Saint Louis Galleria. The exhibit will be open seven days a week (Sunday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m; Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.) with four entry times available each hour. Tickets begin at $34 for adults and $20 for children 5 to 15 (free for children younger than 5).

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 4, via the event’s official website.

“Beyond Van Gogh” was created by Mathieu St-Arnaud and his team at Normal Studio, a Montreal-based company known for combining physical, multimedia and technological elements into groundbreaking arts, entertainment and public installations.
