They’ll be dancing in the streets next month for the Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl!

The ninth annual daylong dance and music festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, featuring swing dancers, blues musicians and brass marching bands in a mile-long Second Line parade.

More than 50 musicians are in the lineup, including the Saint Boogie Brass Band, DJs, jazz trios and more. Plus, complimentary dance lessons will be offered on site, from swing to hip-hop, so there’s no excuse for not shaking and shimmying all day long. A dance battle is scheduled to cap off the evening at the 2720 Cherokee venue.

The festival takes place outdoors and in and around Cherokee Street’s restaurants and bars and shops. Because the event is held in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, face masks are required whenever indoors.

The festival, held on the first Saturday in November, began in 2012 under the leadership of the STL Jitterbugs and as part of the Nevermore Jazz Ball and St. Louis Swing Dance Festival. The event is hosted by the Cherokee Street Foundation and organized by dance instructor, performer and musician Christian Frommelt. For more information, visit the official event page.
