Classic Milkshake (as featured on The Stir)

Hello, boys and girls! School is back in session, and the Binge Besties of The Stir Podcast are reminiscing about some of their favorite back-to-school movies over the decades.

For this week’s complementary sweet treat, we present the perfect after-school pick me up: the Classic Milk Shake. This fantastic creamy, frosty concoction is made even better topped with homemade whipped cream, thanks to Trish’s own recipe.

CLASSIC MILKSHAKE

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ice cream
  • 2/3 to 1 cup milk (use less milk for a thicker milkshake)

Directions

  1. Blend ice cream and milk in a blender on medium speed until smooth.
  2. Pour into a tall glass.
  3. If desired, top with prepared whipped cream (see recipe below).

HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (1 pint) heavy whipping cream
  • 1 T sugar
  • 2 t vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Place whipping cream in freezer to chill for approximately 15 minutes.
  2. Combine cream, sugar and vanilla extra in large mixing bowl.
  3. With a hand mixer, whip the cream on medium speed until it forms soft peaks, about 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
