Coquito (as featured on The Stir)

He’s one of the most popular and recognizable Hollywood stars in the world, and frankly, we can’t imagine the movies without Tom Hanks.

Through the years, the Academy Award-winning actor has captivated generations of moviegoers, not only with his extensive achievements on- and off-camera, but also with his average-Joe, aw-shucks charm.

After serving as host for “Celebrating America,” the televised primetime concert event that capped off Inauguration Day festivities for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this week, the actor is said to be resuming production of the highly anticipated biopic, “Elvis,” in which he plays Col. Tom Parker. A movie released in theaters on Christmas day, “News of the World,” stars Hanks as a Confederate Civil War veteran charged with returning a young girl taken from her Native American family, is currently streaming simultaneously on Netflix.

On this episode of The Stir Podcast, Binge Besties Trish Muyco-Tobin and Debbie Baldwin pay tribute to the legendary actor by curating a must-see list of Tom Hanks movies, from his breakthrough comedy films of the 1980s to those hard-hitting dramas that brought him critical acclaim in the decades to follow.
