GET READY FOR TAN!

Gazelle magazine is proudly sponsoring a special evening with fashion designer Tan France, one of the Fab Five on the Netflix hit show, “Queer Eye,” at the St. Louis County Library, Saturday, June 8.

There, France will fill us all in on some of the juicy details of his new memoir, “Naturally Tan.” So if you want to find out a little – or actually, a lot – more about him, this book has the scoop.

A Muslim immigrant, raised in England, France is of Pakistani Punjabi descent. Now living in Salt Lake City with the love of his life, husband, Rob Cross, the fashion expert spills everything in his book about the trials and tribulations growing up, his vulnerabilities, as well as his humor, his light-hearted moments and some behind-the-scenes information about “Queer Eye.”

France was quoted as saying, “The book is meant to spread joy, personal acceptance, and most of all, understanding. Each of us is living our own private journey, and the more we know about one another, the healthier and happier the world will be.”

He studied fashion at Doncaster College in South Yorkshire, England, and has been a successful fashion designer for over 15 years. He is the founder of women’s clothing line Kingdom & State, and is a partner in the women’s clothing line Rachel Parcell, Inc.

Looking for well-rounded experience set in the fashion industry, he worked for Zara, then for the famed Selfridges department store in London, among other retailers to learn more about the wholesale business side, and at Chanel to learn more about manufacturing.

And with his fashion advice between chapters in “Naturally Tan,” France just might inspire all of us to be a little more attentive to our wardrobe. He makes it sound so easy.

France will discuss his book at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 8, at Library Headquarters at 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Ticket prices and packages range from $32 to $45, and can be purchased at brownpapertickets.com or slcl.org.
