The cardboard box – the unassuming plaything of many a childhood – is the focus of “Respite,” a new exhibition at The High Low in Grand Center by St. Louis collaborative duo Evan and Stacey Smith.

The couple, who uses various media and technologies to create works representing their personal experience, crafted cardboard box sculptures as a vehicle for connecting to and understanding memories of childhood through an adult lens. Through a narrative structure, the exhibit follows the sculptures as they increase in size, leading visitors to become comparatively smaller and eventually able to physically enter the sixth and final sculpture.

The North American tour of “Pretty Woman: The Musical” opens the new U.S. Bank Broadway Series at the Fabulous Fox. Based on the Hollywood blockbuster starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, the three-time Audience Choice Award-winning musical features the iconic Roy Orbison hit, “Oh, Pretty Woman.” The movie was an instant success at the box office when it premiered in 1990 and has since become one of film’s most beloved rom-coms of all time.

The musical stars Tony Award nominee Adam Pascal as Richard Lewis, reprising his role from the Broadway production. In addition to “Pretty Woman,” Pascal is best known for his role as Roger in “RENT.” Olivia Valli stars in the title role as Vivian Ward. Valli was recently featured in the Off-Broadway production of “Jersey Boys,” which tells the story of her grandfather, Frankie Valli, and the Four Seasons. In it, she played her real-life grandmother, Mary Delgado, who was Frankie Valli’s first wife.
