A new dining experience in the heart of The Grove pays tribute to a Midwestern tradition that began almost a century ago.
Tempus, owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Vito and Amy Racanelli, has launched a monthly Supper Club at the intimate event space, bringing people together for a one-of-kind dining experience.
The concept harkens back to the 1930s and ‘40s, when supper clubs in the Midwest became a popular way for people to socialize in public to celebrate the end of Prohibition. At Tempus, the Racanellis have given the supper club a modern twist, thanks to their extensive culinary backgrounds. Both trained chefs and longtime restaurateurs, they welcome diners to their space with live music, specialty cocktails and an a la carte menu that highlights local, seasonal ingredients.
“We love bringing the community together at Tempus. It’s like inviting people into our own home to share a fun, memorable evening together,” said Vito Racanelli. “Our hope is for Supper Club to be an evening to look forward to every month, to meet up with friends for a relaxing night of good food and entertainment, and an opportunity to meet new friends, too.”
The à la carte dinner menu features dishes such as Swedish Meatballs, Beer Battered Local Cheese Curds, Chopped Salads, Filet Mignon, Crab Stuffed Trout and more. Tempus has also partnered with Urban Chestnut brewery, located across the street on Manchester Avenue, for a special beer release for Supper Club. Local distillery StilL 630 is also involved, teaming up with Tempus to create a specialty cocktail menu.
There is an entrance fee of $20 per person, with food and drinks available a la carte for dinner. Visit Tempus’ event page for more information on upcoming Supper Club dates.
