Ice Carnival Adds Drone Show to 2024 Festivities

Organizers predict next month’s Ice Carnival in the Delmar Loop will be its biggest in 17 years.

The day-long event on Saturday, Jan. 20, is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is free to attend.

The annual event attracted more than 12,000 people in 2023 and organizers are hoping to build on last year’s success to make it an even bigger celebration for 2024. New this year will be the Ice Carnival Drone Show with 160 drones lighting up the night sky.

The carnival will also feature an appearance by St. Louis Blues mascot, Louie, as well as tons of family-friendly winter fun, including live music, snowflake ballerinas, fire performers, and live ice-carving demonstrations and more than 50 ice sculptures.

Live ice-carving demonstrations will be part of the day-long event in the Delmar Loop.

Hayrides will be available to transport festival-goes from one end of the festivities to the other, with local businesses along Delmar Boulevard hosting a variety of games and events, and displaying their custom ice sculptures.

The drone show, which begins at 7 p.m., can be experienced from the ground and will be visible from a mile away. There will be a VIP viewing area atop the Moonrise Hotel, with tickets ($75 for adults, $45 for children 12 and younger) including heavy hors d’oeuvres and two drinks per person.
