Shareholder at law firm Capes Sokol, John S. Meyer, Jr., has been named the new president of the Loop Trolley Company’s board of directors, succeeding Les Sterman, who held the position for six years.

Sterman will continue to serve as a member of the board and as vice president of operations, succeeding Tom Sehr who served in that position for five years.  Sehr is a former executive vice president of Metro, and continues as a member of the Loop Trolley Company board of directors.

“The Loop Trolley is a wonderful asset that connects Forest Park, one of the world’s great public parks, with the Delmar Loop, named one of the 10 Great Streets in America by the American Planning Association,” Meyer said. “The fixed track, electric heritage trolley system is the result of Joe Edwards’ vision and the hard work and commitment of many.

“I am excited to lead the board of directors as the Loop Trolley Company prepares to begin seven-day service this spring, now that our third restored, vintage trolley car has been delivered and is being tested and certified for service,” Meyer added.

Other elected officers include:

  • Kim Tucci, co-founder of the Pasta House (vice president of marketing)
  • Tom Schmittdiel, TPM Creative Marketing (vice president of communications)
  • Don Moschenross, former director of administration for the Metropolitan Sewer District (treasurer)
  • Joe Adams, former University City mayor and Missouri State Representative for the 86th District (secretary)
  • Jen Rieger, owner of OSO: A Style Lab (assistant secretary)

Last month, the Loop Trolley Company began testing its third trolley car – a 1920s model from Melbourne, Australia. Its capacity is 100 passengers with 50 seated and 50 standing. The car is expected to be ready for service in late spring of 2019. The Trolley Company will expand service to seven days a week at that time.

The Loop Trolley Company currently operates two heritage streetcars Thursday through Sunday, starting at noon each day. Standard two-hour passes are $2 and all-day passes are $5. Seniors, children and passengers with disabilities receive a reduced fare. For information, visit looptrolley.com.
