Met Gala 2020 Theme Revealed

The Met Gala, an annual fundraising event benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, is often referred to as “fashion’s biggest night,” the night when the stars don their most unique and memorable ensembles.

The New York museum announced that in 2020, the event will take place on May 4, with the theme “About Time: Fashion and Duration.”

“Fashion is indelibly connected to time. It not only reflects and represents the spirit of the times, but it also changes and develops with the times, serving as an especially sensitive and accurate timepiece,” said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu curator in charge of the Costume Institute.

The event will be co-chaired by Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière, Anna Wintour, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Next year’s gala marks the milestone 150th anniversary for the museum. While we won’t be able to predict next year’s set of looks, we can showcase what we think are the most memorable ones from previous years.
