Metro Theater Company has a new artistic director. Jacqueline Thompson, whose career spans acting, directing, teaching and community engagement, will replace retiring artistic director Julia Flood.
Thompson’s long history of involvement with Metro Theater Company (MTC) includes starring in and directing productions, demonstrating a dedication to youth-focused theatre and community impact. She directed acclaimed MTC productions “Ghost” and “Last Stop on Market Street.”
Flood, who came to MTC in 2014, will officially retire June 30 following several months of transition and overlap.
Metro Theater Company, which marked its 50th year in 2023, has been creating productions and telling stories that respect the emotional wisdom and intelligence of young audiences. Since 1973, the company has reached a total audience of more than 2 million.
