If you love doing it for the ‘gram – or you’re just searching for something offbeat and out of the ordinary – then this is the place to be!
The Museum of Illusions, the area’s newest fun-tastic, photo-fabulous destination, opens its doors Friday, May 24, at City Foundry STL in Midtown St. Louis.
Spread out across more than 9,000 square feet of space are exhibits of every kind, from illusion rooms, installations and images, designed to mesmerize, excite and engage visitors of all shapes and sizes. Among the highlights are a few unique nods to the 314, including an illuminating, colorful homage to the Gateway Arch and another that sets visitors inside a “local” smokehouse. There’s also a thrilling re-imagination of St. Louis City Hall that leaves you “hanging by a thread,” so to speak.
Other perception-challenging displays include a Walk-In Kaleidoscope, a Tilted Room and a Vortex Tunnel that’s sure to take you for a figurative – and perhaps, literal – spin.
What’s more, each exhibit aims to showcase the fascinating science behind the illusion, making the museum a true blend of entertainment and education for visitors.
Museum of Illusions in St. Louis is the first Missouri location for the Croatian-based company, one of the largest and fastest-growing private museum chains in the world. The brand has approximately 50 museums in 25 countries, including U.S. locations in New York, Chicago and Las Vegas, and in major cities across the globe such as London, Paris, Madrid, Shanghai and Cairo.
The museum is hosting a grand-opening celebration on Friday beginning at 10 a.m., featuring illusion-themed bites, photo ops and live entertainment.
Museum of Illusions will be open Sunday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets start at $20.
