Exciting news for Nelly fans! The St. Louis-born and raised hip-hop superstar is part of a new promotion by Burger King to “Keep It Real,” and soon, you can order a meal with his (real) name on it.
The fast-food chain recently announced it is banning 120 artificial ingredients from its menu to further the company’s commitment to delivering real food. Among the ingredients on the banned list are high-fructose corn syrup, bleached flour, artificial colors and a host of preservatives, whenever possible.
To go along with the “Keep It Real” theme, Burger King has teamed up with Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., as well as Brazilian artist Anitta and social media personality Lil Huddy, to promote three new Keep It Real meals. But you can’t order them by using the celebrity stage names.
“With food so real, we had to use real names,” according to a statement from Burger King.
The company invited the three celebrities to hand-select food from its Real menu to create their own individual meals. Beginning Sunday, Sept. 12, three Keep It Real meals will be on the menu, including the Cornell Haynes Jr. (aka Nelly) Meal.
For the Cornell Haynes Jr. Meal, Nelly chose Burger King’s classic flame-grilled Whopper topped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayonnaise and ketchup, along with small fries and a small Sprite.
Other meals available include the Chase Hudson Meal (aka Lil Huddy), a hand-breaded Spicy Ch’King with cheese, four-piece mozzarella sticks and a 16-ounce chocolate shake; and the Larissa Machado Meal (aka Anitta), with an Impossible Whopper with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard, small fries and a small Sprite.
