In honor of 314 Day, St. Louis’ own Nelly has announced the creation of the High School Alumni Games to begin next year.
The Grammy-winning music icon – a proud graduate of University City High School – came up with the idea for the Olympic-style tournament to feature social, athletic and STEM games as a take on St. Louis’ most infamous question: Where’d you go to high school?
With the games, Nelly – as its ambassador – hopes to engage local alumni associations across the region and celebrate those who have graduated from St. Louis schools.
The High School Alumni Games, held in partnership with the 314 Day Foundation, will be officially rolled out for 314 Day 2024.
Today’s announcement was made during a press conference at Harris-Stowe State University led by Nelly, who appeared alongside 314 Day founders Terrell “Young Dip” Evans and Tatum Polk, as well as Harris-Stowe president LaTonia Collins-Smith.
In addition, the foundation announced the creation of a 314 Day Foundation scholarship at Harris-Stowe.
