In one week, St. Louis’ latest movie theater will open to the public at City Foundry STL.
The Alamo Drafthouse will make its official debut on Friday, Dec. 16. The 10-screen, state-of-the-art luxury theater complex will screen new films, as well as curated Hollywood classics. In addition, the chain is known for its in-theater food and drink service and an attached themed bar that serves draft beers, cocktails and locally sourced food offerings.
The theater’s eclectic lineup of films for opening day will include “Avatar: Way of the Water,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and “ELF.”
Each auditorium has luxury recliner seats, digital 4k projection and dynamic surround sound, among other top-of-the-line features. In all, the complex’s 10 auditoriums will seat more than 930 people.
Another attraction is the themed bar called “The Meaning of Bar.” The bar and game room, designed to be an homage to the most absurd movies of all time, will feature 48 beers on tap, including 2nd Shift Brewing’s Premiere Pale Ale – crafted just for Alamo – as well as other local brews and specialty drinks. The food menu will include seasonal specials and vegan-friendly options, with 98% of the offerings, from dressings to sauces to cookies, created in-house.
The new complex at the Foundry joins three dozen more Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations across the country. Each location is assigned a movie-genre theme that is showcased with décor and interactive elements throughout the theater. Alamo Drafthouse St. Louis, whose theme is “absurdist comedy,” is locally owned and operated by franchise owners John Martin and Marc Evans.
While the theater’s official public opening is on Dec. 16, Alamo Drafthouse is holding a soft opening on Monday, Dec. 12. For tickets and additional information, visit the theater’s official website.
