Now that warmer weather is here, things are hopping more than ever in our local restaurant scene, just in time for your spring flings and Easter feasters.
Crab Eggs Benedict, Heirloom Corn Grits and Peruvian Fried Rice are among the offerings on the menu for Easter brunch at Cinder House at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. On Sunday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 1:30pm, guests can choose from eleven of the restaurant’s classic brunch entrees, as well as graze at a lavish bread, patisserie presentation and dessert display, all made and baked in-house. The cost is $55 per person (including gratuity). Reservations are required and can be made on Open Table.
Café la Vie, the bar and restaurant located inside Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton, invites you to nibble on a selection of decadent small and big plates during its Easter Sunday Brunch. Available on Sunday, April 17, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests can enjoy items like Pastrami Salmon Tartine (wheat toast topped with mashed avocado, capers, watercress, marinated baby tomatoes and salmon) or the Croque Madame (layers of sliced Nueske’s Ham, provel fondue and brioche bread topped with a sunny-side-up egg). The a la carte brunch menu ranges from $8 to $18. Reservations, which include complimentary parking, are required and may be made through OpenTable.
Another eggs-cellent option? Commonwealth, the restaurant inside the Angad Arts Hotel, has a special Easter breakfast on April 17 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. With a selection of dishes like Avocado Toast (toasted sourdough bread topped with avocado mousse, soft tomatoes and a poached egg) and Strawberry Yogurt Parfait (strawberry Greek yogurt topped with fresh berries and house-made granola) and an a la carte breakfast menu that ranges in price from $15 to $21, there are plenty of options for everyone. Guests may also choose from cranberry, orange or grapefruit prosecco mimosas served by the glass ($9) or bottle ($30), or two different types of Bloody Marys ($13 each). Reservations are required and may be made through OpenTable.
Looking to next-level brunch for your peeps? When it comes to gorgeous goodies, Russell’s takes the cake, with sweets available for pre-order such as Lamb Cake ($39), Grammy’s Carrot Cake (available in two sizes and as mini-cupcakes, and other specialty cakes with flavors like Lemon Curd and Toasted Coconut. Spring-themed sugar cookies are also available ($21 for six and $42 for 12). Customers may place orders for Easter sweets through the online store or by calling Russell’s on Macklind at (314) 553-9994 or Russell’s Fenton at (636) 343-8900. Desserts will be ready for pickup on Saturday, April 16.

If shakes rattle ‘ya, then you need to roll on down to St. Louis Union Station for the Soda Fountain’s new over-the-top Freak Shake called For Peep’s Sake. The outrageous sweet treat begins with a banana milkshake in a very tall glass, rimmed with green coconut Easter “grass.” The Freak Shake is then topped with a Peeps kabob, a La Bonne Bouchee pastel rainbow sugar cookie, a rock candy stick, jelly beans, whipped cream and a cherry.The spring shake is available through April at the popular retro diner, located under the train shed at Union Station. Soda Fountain is open daily from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Not enough sugar, Sugar? St. Louis Union Station also just debuted Cookies & Cupcakes, located just outside the entrance to the St. Louis Aquarium. The shop features whimsically decorated cupcakes – including one designed to look like a shark fin emerging from blue icing waves – from Jilly’s Cupcake Bar in St. Louis.
Fudge is also available at the shop, along with chocolate “Shark Poop.” Cookies baked on site come in a variety of flavors and are served daily, along with Kaldi’s coffee and barista-made espresso-based drinks. St. Louis Union Station Cookies & Cupcakes is open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
