Nibbles & Nosh: ‘Paw’ty on National Dog Day, Brunch with Barbie & More!

Steve’s Hot Dogs is hosting the ultimate National Dog Day “pawty” with a purpose on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Dubbed “Your Dog’s Best Day Ever,” the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ritz Park adjacent to Steve’s Hot Dogs on South Grand Boulevard. In addition to a day filled with play, pampering, puppy crafts and pup cups for your pooches, there will be a special adoption area featuring dogs from Center for Animal Rescue and Enrichment of St. Louis (CARE).

Also on site will be a puppy paw painting station, a doggie ball pit area, retail offerings from Pet Supplies Plus and Treats Unleashed, and more.

Of course, Steve’s Hot Dogs food and drink menu will be available, along with dog-themed cocktails like Bark & Storm, Unleashed and Dog Days of Summer. What’s more, 15% of sales at Steve’s Hot Dogs and at any of the retail vendors during the event will be donated to CARE. We can’t think of a more perfect dog day afternoon!

For those who want to keep the party going for their pups, Le Méridien St. Louis Clayton is celebrating National Dog Month all month long.

The hotel will host Yappy Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday in August, beginning Aug. 8. Each Yappy Hour features bites and drinks available for purchase for dogs and their humans, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the APA in St. Louis.

Tickets are $10 for each dog and are available online; human companions attend for free.

Inspired by the movie of the summer, the full-out, interactive Barbiecore brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Commonwealth, Angad’s first-floor restaurant. Enjoy a complimentary mimosa or mocktail served by a real-life Ken, followed by a curated, themed brunch menu with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Photo ops, a live DJ and fun surprises are also in store.

Indulge in a chef-curated three-course menu prepared by executive chef Antoine Bailey, accompanied by handcrafted cocktails and sipping pairings. Guests will also receive a bottle of barrel-aged WhistlePig Maple Syrup. The Thursday, Aug. 17, whiskey dinner begins at 6 p.m. at Pennydrop Bar + Kitchen at the Pennywell Hotel (400 Olive St.) in downtown St. Louis.

National Custard Day is Tuesday, Aug. 8, and local restaurants are joining in on the fun.
