Thousands of orchid blooms from the Missouri Botanical Garden’s permanent collection are getting ready for their closeup at the annual Orchid Show.
The Garden’s 2024 Orchid Show is from Jan. 27 to Feb. 25 in the Emerson Conservatory at the Jack C. Taylor Visitor’s Center.
For most of the year, the Garden’s permanent orchid collection is cared for in greenhouses by the horticulture staff. This once-a-year event gives the public an opportunity to see a rotating display of vibrant blooms from more 5,000 individual plants representing approximately 700 unique kinds of orchids. One of 10 orchids in the collection is threatened or endangered.
The Orchid Show is open during regular Garden hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission to the Orchid Show is included with general Garden admission ($16 for adults; $6 for residents of St. Louis City and St. Louis County; free for children 12 years and younger).
On Feb. 8 and 22, Orchid Nights offer a chance to see a special lighted viewing in the evening and include live music. Admission ($15 for Garden members; $20 for nonmembers) includes one drink ticket.
