Founded in St. Louis by Brooke Meek, PLNK will open its third regional location in Town & Country on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1196 Town and Country Crossing Drive.
PLNK (pronounced ‘plank’), is the only boutique fitness studio in St. Louis that features the Lagree Method. Born and raised in St. Louis, Meek – who is active in field hockey, lacrosse and the community – discovered the low-impact/high-energy training while sidelined by an injury. Dubbed “Pilates on steroids,” the Lagree Method uses a Megaformer machine to build strong, lean muscles without the harsh impact on joints.
“The workout focuses on targeted muscle building and conditioning by combining cardio, strength, core, flexibility and balance through slow controlled movements,” Meek said. “Clients work muscles to fatigue, resulting in a greater metabolic response. There’s a reason this is how supermodels train.”
The Town & Country grand opening kicks off at 8:30 a.m., with three classes offered throughout the morning. With each class limited to 12 spots, reservations must be made in advance through the PLNK app or online at plnkfitness.com.
Other grand opening events include a DJ, food, drink and giveaways. Find out more about PLNK, including inaugural member discounts, at plnkfitness.com and through Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
A Pilates-inspired, 50-minute, total-body workout, there will be more than 40 classes offered each week, starting as early as 5:30 a.m. and as late as 6:30 p.m., seven days per week. PLNK’s newest location will have 1,800 square feet with 12 Megaformer machines and private bathrooms. Other St. Louis locations are in Ladue and the Central West End. PLNK expanded to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Omaha, Nebraska, in the fall of 2020.
“Opening the first PLNK in 2016 was a dream come true,” Meek said. “And now we’re opening the third St. Louis location in just under six years. When I take a minute to think about how we’ve grown and what’s been accomplished, I’m overcome with gratitude. These expansions are due to the high demand for this specialty workout and the care and detail that PLNK instructors bring to each class.”
PLNK is open to all. Members range from pro athletes to first-timers to people committed to fitness. Health aficionados who can no longer engage in high-impact activities are also driven toward this challenging, low-impact workout.
The new location will have eight instructors and six staff members, many of whom will be the studio’s core instructors, and will be trained and certified in the Lagree Method.
PLNK supports several nonprofits in the community. For more information, visit plnkfitness.com.
