The soon-to-open Hot Pizza Cold Beer in downtown St. Louis takes a winning combination and offers its own nostalgic, retro-inspired flair.
The new restaurant, which opens Friday, Feb. 2, at 610 Washington Ave., is a pizza spinoff concept by the ownership team behind Hi-Pointe Drive-In.
Located in the former Pi Pizzeria space, the restaurant will be “a melting pot of pizza varieties, maximalist offerings, locally made beers and fun vibes.”
The menu is inspired by the most popular pizzas in America, from East Coast varieties to St. Louis style and more. The 3,000-square-foot space will also feature a throwback arcade hangout, which will have a subtle nod to ‘80s pizza joints with neon lights, arcade games and decorative pieces.
The menu features the P.I.M.P. Slice, a 16-inch, design-your-own pizza slice touted as the largest slice of pie in town. Other offerings include specialty pizzas, sandwiches, appetizers, dips, wings, salads and desserts.
East Coast–influenced pizzas come in 13- and 16-inch sizes, and feature options such as The Lou (with STL crust, provel and choice of toppings), The Situation (topped with chicken parmesan, spaghetti marinara, mozzarella sticks and meatballs), Canadian Tuxedo (with Canadian bacon, pineapple and hot maple drizzle) and Menage a ‘Za (a three-way combination pie that’s part spinach-artichoke calzone and part supreme pizza with a garlic-knot crust). Beyond pizza, there’s also Crispy Flash-Fried Wings, Garlic Cheese Bread, and shareable salads, including the Caesar, Italian Chopped and Cobb.
The bar will have 24 taps dedicated to local craft beer such as 4 Hands Brewing Co., Urban Chestnut and more, as well as cocktails, sangria and margaritas on tap.
This is the ownership team’s first pizza concept. In addition to Hi-Pointe Drive-In, the team, which includes pitmaster Mike Johnson, executive chef Dave Molina and restaurateur Charlie Downs, also owns Sugarfire and Sugarfire Pie, the Boathouse at Forest Park and Cyrano’s.
Hot Pizza Cold Beer will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
