St. Louis philanthropic leaders Ambassador Sam and Marilyn Fox are the recipients of this year’s top award from CharacterPlus, the largest and most successful community-wide character education program in the country.

The couple will be recognized with the Sandy McDonnell Dedication to Character Award during this year’s Friends of CharacterPlus Fall Party on Friday, Nov. 22. CharacterPlus board chair Veronica McDonnell notes that the Foxes were among the organization’s first supporters when it was founded 31 years ago.

“Since then, they have continually shown their generosity for CharacterPlus through their philanthropy and chairing the 2018 Challenge to Spread Character Campaign,” McDonnell said. “It is because of their continued support for CharacterPlus that they are deservedly receiving the award.”

Since 1988, St. Louis-based CharacterPlus has been committed to building strong school communities where students feel valued and have the resources necessary to succeed both in and outside of the classroom. To do this, CharacterPlus offers a series of workshops and other advanced training for school administrators and teachers to help instill positive character traits in students – such as responsibility and respect – by teaching, promoting and living these values in every aspect of school life.

The Friends of CharacterPlus Fall Party is the organization’s signature event, which takes place every year on the Friday before Thanksgiving. This year’s event is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at the Danforth Plant Science Center in Creve Coeur. Event co-chairs are Joan Ball, Edie Dorris and Amy Richards
