Schnucks and Circus Flora Create Caper in Aisle 6

Few things thrill me more than a trip to the grocery store. After all, I’m a foodie – actually I prefer gourmet – who delights in running up and down the aisles searching for something new. It’s a thrill shared by Circus Flora artistic director Jack Marsh.

That said, attention shoppers: There’s a Caper in Aisle 6. What could it mean? A secret sale on canned chili? Could it be a breakage or spill? Maybe there was a theft. I won’t know for sure until I make it to this year’s production of Circus Flora’s The Caper in Aisle 6, opening Thursday, June 6, and running until Sunday, June 30, under The Big Top.

Discovering what’s happening in grocery aisle 6 is this year’s story line – a location yielding a unique platform for Circus Flora’s renowned acrobats, aerialists, comedians and high wire daredevils to solve the caper mystery. Of course, one must ask: Where is aisle 6 located? Schnucks, that’s where.

Schnucks is welcomed by Circus Flora as its special partner for the production of its 33rd season.

“We decided to set this show in a grocery store because we love the idea of taking an ordinary place and making it extraordinary,” said Jack Marsh, Circus Flora’s artistic director. “We wondered what would happen if we took some of Circus Flora’s magic and sprinkled it on the local Schnucks. And we’re excited to show you.”

Schnucks’ “Big Cart” will be featured on-site for opening night. Schnucks will also feature in-store displays of Circus Flora, as well as some of Circus Flora’s other beverage sponsors, like Schlafly, 7 Up and Keurig, all great beverages that pair nicely with a circus hot dog or popcorn.

Tickets for this local summer tradition are now available through all MetroTix outlets, metrotix.com, and by phone at 314-534-1111. Tickets can also be purchased at the Fabulous Fox Theater box office at 531 North Grand Blvd. Visit www.circusflora.org for more information.
