Science fiction and 19th-century couture combined for Stranger Than Fiction: The Art of Innovation at the St. Louis Public Library’s Central Library downtown.

Co-chaired by Cabanne Howard, Al Mitchell and Ted Wight, along with Jim McKelvey as honorary chair, the event featured attendees in gear, goggles, corsets and other Victorian and steampunk-inspired attire, who enjoyed virtual reality tours of 19th-century Versailles, tea dueling, a scavenger hunt and dancing to live music.

Proceeds from the biennial gala benefit the St. Louis Public Library Foundation’s work in the community, including making technology programming, equipment and other services easily accessible for all St. Louisans.

Gazelle served as a proud media partner for Stranger Than Fiction: The Art of Innovation.
