Serena Williams has officially been named the global spokeswoman for Stuart Weitzman. The tennis star is featured in the 2020 ad campaign, which focuses on celebrating women as pillars of hope and optimism for their communities.

Williams is ranked by the Women’s Tennis Association as No. 9 in women’s tennis, has 73 career singles titles, and career prize money of around $90 million.

The powerful campaign was shot by Ethan James Green, Natasha Gross was the makeup artist and Angela Meadows was the hairstylist. Stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson selected a crisp white color scheme to draw attention to the shoes.

Williams is seen posing  in Weitzman’s square-toe Aleena 75 Sandal; the sculptural Anny  95 Pump and the Manila Signature Loafer, reintroduced with a monochromatic sole and updated hardware.

“I worked and finished this exciting project with Stuart Weitzman at the beginning of this year. Now we can’t hold it in anymore! I hope through this campaign and Stuart Weitzman’s partnership with Vital Voices we can share a message of hope and optimism,” Williams said.

Having done clothing collections with HSN and Nike, Williams introduced her fashion collection, Serena, in May 2018, a direct-to-consumer business at serenawilliams.com.

The campaign is just a part of Weitzman’s philanthropic partnership with Vital Voices Global Partnership. Both organizations are focused on uplifting women of color who have made an effort to support vulnerable communities amid the coronavirus.

Others include Sage Ke’alohilani Quiamno, co-founder of Future for Us, a platform devoted to advancing women of color at work, and Ashlee Wisdom, founder of Health in Her Hue, a platform that connects black women to health care providers, services and resources.
