St. Louis will mark Veterans Day on Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at Soldiers Memorial in downtown St. Louis.
The annual St. Louis Regional Veterans Day Observance will include a parade, car show and 5k, as well as a Missouri National Guard Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Soldiers Memorial t Chestnut and Market streets.
The public is invited to join and salute St. Louis-area veterans during event, which begins at 9 a.m. with the eighth annual Veterans Day 5K at 9 a.m. at Soldiers Memorial.
Proceeds from the 5k will benefit St. Patrick’s Center and its mission of transforming lives through sustainable housing, employment and healthcare. Of the more than 4,000 people assisted last year by St. Patrick’s, 813 were veterans. The center was able to connect 93 former servicemembers with jobs and place 340 veterans and their families in permanent housing. The race is accessible and welcomes wheelchairs, strollers and pets. Registration is required.
The Veterans Day Parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at 18th and Olive streets, followed by a Missouri National Guard Hall of Fame ceremony at 11:30 a.m. for five new inductees.
The public is also welcome to view the military trucks, Jeeps and other vehicles featured in the parade up close during the event.
