Come laugh out loud at the fourth annual “That’s What She Said” evening of female-centric comedy, presented by St. Louis’ Solid Lines Productions at its fourth annual fundraising gala.
“That’s What She Said” will be an evening of comedy and camaraderie at Sophie’s Lounge in the .ZACK , beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction and complimentary appetizers. A cash bar will be available. The cabaret performance, hosted by Fox Smith and Rachel Bailey, begins at 7:30 p.m. The annual event features a variety of local artists and includes hilarious stand-up, short skits, burlesque, drag and singing comedy.
Solid Lines Productions is a local nonprofit theater company dedicated to exploring contemporary issues and cultural diversity through theater. By spotlighting social issues that impact the current community, and opening dialogue after each performance the art form is being used to bridge the gap between a problem and a solution.
Its next production in the current season is “Recent Alien Abductions” by Jorge Cortiñas, which will be directed by Sarah Holt, Wednesday, June 12, at The Stage at KDHX. It follows Álvaro, who is searching for a lost episode of “The X-Files” that he swears has been mysteriously altered since its original broadcast, but nobody believes him. Could the missing episode be proof of a larger conspiracy? Years later, when a friend arrives in Puerto Rico, hoping to preserve Álvaro’s stories, she must face the family from whom he vanished long ago. It’s a darkly compelling tale about the danger of having no one to trust, and how families – and nations – keep circling the places that haunt them.
“That’s What She Said” will be held Wednesday, May 22 at Sophie’s Lounge in the .ZACK at 3224 Locust Street, 2nd Floor, St. Louis, MO 63103.
