Calling all extraordinarily talented high school students! Online registration for the 10th annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition is now open!

The area-wide competition, presented by Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, gives contestants the opportunity to not only showcase their talents, but also vie for scholarships and other prizes, and the chance to perform on stage at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

The event attracts the area’s most talented high school performers, who compete before a panel of judges to make it to the preliminary and semi-final rounds, and ultimately to the finals onstage at the Fox Theatre on April 4, 2020.

Acts may consist of a solo artist or up to six students performing as a group. Performing arts categories include, but are not limited to: singers, dancers, actors, musicians, comedians, ventriloquists and circus skill artists. Contestants may perform with original or published material.

“We hope students who are passionate about the performing arts will think creatively and register for the competition,” said Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation board president Mary Strauss.

Singer Joanna Serenko from Kirkwood High School won the 2019 competition and was awarded an $8,000 scholarship and a recording session, during which she recorded two of her own original songs.

Past Teen Talent finalists have performed on tour with “Hamilton,” at The Muny, with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, at The Sheldon, at sports events and at area festivals. Featured acts over the years have included circus arts (aerialist, juggler, hula hoop), musicians (pianist, harpists, ukulele, cellists), classical and pop singers, dancers, spoken word, and baton twirlers.

“We have been thrilled with the response to this event from students, parents, arts organizations and the community. The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation is uniquely positioned to provide the opportunity for students to perform at the Fox and on other stages around St. Louis. We are pleased that we are able to put talented young people in the spotlight,” Strauss said.

The 2020 contest is open to students enrolled in the ninth, 10th, 11th or 12th grade during the 2019-2020 school year, and attending high school or home school within a 50-mile radius of St. Louis. There are no fees to participate or register. Online registration is available through Sunday, Dec. 1, on foxpacf.org.
