Webster University’s seventh annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Conference kicks off next month with star Olympian Laurie Hernandez as the event’s keynote speaker.

Hernandez, the youngest member of “The Final Five” U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team that clinched the gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and earned a silver medal on the balance beam, will speak on Tuesday, March 1, at the Loretto-Hilton Center on the Webster University campus.

In addition to her gymnastics success, Hernandez won the 2016 Dancing with the Stars competition on ABC. She has penned two New York Times bestselling books, “I Got This: To Gold and Beyond” and the children’s book, “She’s Got This.”

Hernandez joins some 20 other presenters throughout the two-day conference themed “Every Day Inclusion: Right Here, Right Now!” on March 1 and 2. Speakers, such as the Rev. Traci Blackmon, KSDK news anchor and Very Asian Foundation founder Michelle Li and others, will address the question, “What can we do?” by focusing on inequities that persist in communities and deliver immediate, practical and impactful strategies to promote inclusion as individuals and institutions.

The conference, which will be held both in person at Webster University and virtually is free to attend. Registration is required. Visit webster.edu/deiconference2022 to learn more and to register.
