Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL) has announced a 49th-season lineup that features classic masterworks and fascinating figures of history.
This week, OTSL revealed the shows for its 2024 Festival Season, which opens with Rossini’s comedic masterpiece, “The Barber of Seville.” The repertory continues with Puccini’s timeless romance, “La bohème,” followed by Handel’s “Julius Caesar,” the captivating love story between Julius Caesar and Cleopatra that rewrote the course of history. Philip Glass’ rarely produced “Galileo Galilei,” which explores the great scientist’s life, closes out the season.
In addition to four mainstage productions, Opera Theatre will present “Center Stage,” its annual concert featuring members of OTSL’s highly selective Young Artist programs, accompanied onstage by members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO). This year, only 34 singers were admitted to the programs from more than 1,000 applicants around the country.
The 2024 Festival Season will run May 25 through June 30, 2024 at the Loretto-Hilton Center. Each performance will be accompanied by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra – the 47th year of partnership between OTSL and SLSO.
OTSL’s 2023 Festival Season repertory continues this weekend, with the premieres of “Cosi fan tutte” and “Susannah,” as well as ongoing performances of “Treemonisha” and “Tosca,” through June 25.
