Telva at The Ridge – a new breakfast and lunch restaurant in downtown Webster Groves – officially opens its doors Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Telva at The Ridge, which is located adjacent to Rolling Ridge Nursery (8103 Big Bend Blvd.), is owned by the same family behind Balkan Treat Box, which is also in Webster.

Telva is a counter-service establishment featuring wood-fired roasted coffee, salads, soups, pastries, open-faced sandwiches and more.

Menu highlights include Cilbir (Turkish eggs) with two eggs, garlic yogurt, tomato-chile brown butter and herbs; Sloppy Mustafa Tost, a take on a sloppy joe with the flavors of moussaka; Telva Avocado Tost with roasted tomato, cucumber, feta, olive, tzatziki, sesame crunch and oregano; and the Tikva Salata, a seasonal salad with dark greens, feta, roasted squash, citrus, charred dates, radish and orange blossom vinaigrette.

Telva also features a rotating menu of house-made baked goods such as Cinnamon Tahini Bun, which is inspired by Turkish bread; Potivica, a hand-pulled stuffed dough similar to babka; Kunefe, a warm savory-sweet pastry; and Telva’s take on the traditional baklava.

The coffee shop serves wood-fired roasted coffees, lattes and more, including Cupavac Latte, inspired by a traditional Balkan chocolate coconut cake; and Eurokrem Latte, flavored with hazelnut and chocolate.

For its wood-fired coffee program, Telva offers coffee as it is traditionally served in Bosnia and the Balkan region, with each cup brewed individually in a small copper pot, known as a džezva. Coffee grounds are boiled with water for a strong bold flavor and served with sugar cubes.

The name Telva translates to the coffee sediment at the bottom of the cup, which is said to give insight into people’s fortunes.

Telva also has The Ridge Room, a daytime and evening event space for up to 80 people.

Telva is the second restaurant owned and operated by the Nalic family, comprised of husband-wife team Loryn and Edo Nalic, as well as Nalic’s brother and sister-in-law, Emir and Erna Nalic.

Telva is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit the Telva at The Ridge website.
