The year 2013 saw the introduction of a West Coast-style taco restaurant concept from restaurateur-brothers Adam and Jason Tilford.
In the years since, Mission Taco Joint has grown to include 500 employees and seven locations in St. Louis and Kansas City, as well as the opening of its first restaurant in Kansas, expected by this summer.
To mark the occasion, Mission Taco is hosting a throwback party on Thursday, April 6, featuring a concert, tacos and tequila.
The evening begins with an 8 p.m. concert at Delmar Hall, just down the street from the original location in the Delmar Loop, featuring local Beastie Boys cover band, My Posse in Effect.
Tickets are now available for purchase online and at Delmar Hall’s box office, with 100% of proceeds to benefit Friends of Kids with Cancer.
For the after-party, the fan-favorite Late Night Happy Hour is returning for one night only from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the hours following the concert. Happy Hour items include $2 tacos and $2 tequila shots.
Adam and Jason Tilford, inspired by their childhood in California, opened their taco-restaurant concept 10 years ago to offer their take on West Coast-style Mexican cuisine in St. Louis. Mission Taco recently launched a new line of retail tortilla chips, MTJ Chips, as well as entertainment spaces of two retro arcades at its locations in Kirkwood and St. Charles.
The brothers are also known for actively supporting the local hospitality industry and giving back to the community. During the pandemic, Adam Tilford strongly advocated for the to-go cocktail movement, which provided much-needed revenue for restaurants and ultimately led to Gov. Parson’s executive order and the passing of permanent legislation in Missouri. Mission Taco has also participated in a number of giveback partnerships to support local nonprofit organizations.
