Valentine’s Day, from Casual to Curated Dining and Experiences

There’s so much to love about Valentine’s Day in St. Louis! Whether you’re celebrating with your sweetheart, your gal pals or with the whole family, the choices – from curated prix-fixe menus to a brunch feast – are just love-ly!

If you’re looking for an over-the-top indulgence, Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis is offering a “Spa After Dark” experience that’s second to none.

The Spa After Dark experience at the Four Seasons gives couples exclusive access to one of the most luxurious spas in St. Louis.

Spa After Dark gives couples exclusive access to the hotel’s 12,000-square-foot spa and its luxurious amenities, such as the sauna, aroma steam room and whirlpool, the romantic, after-hours retreat begins with a prosecco toast and two Four Seasons bathrobes presented as a gift upon arrival. It also comes with two 80-minute massages in the Couples Suite. To top off the evening, a candlelit and rose-petal dinner featuring a three-course tasting menu will be served in the relaxation lounge, overlooking the Mississippi River and the Gateway Arch.

The Four Seasons also offers a Champagne and Caviar option upon check-in.

In addition, guests can enhance their experience by adding a Champagne and Caviar option (from $310) served upon arrival, which includes 1 ounce of osetra caviar – served traditionally with creme fraiche, blinis and fingerling potato chips – and a chilled bottle of Champagne. Also downtown, 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis will host a Galentine’s Day celebration Sunday, Feb. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Held at the hotel’s Billiards Room, the event kicks off with a complimentary cocktail, a three-drink special menu, passed tapas, a raffle and a fabulous photo booth. Tickets are $35 per person.

The Valentine’s Dinner for two ($120) includes Charcuterie for Two; Strawberry Fields Spinach Salad or Creamy Tomato Bisque with grilled cheese toast points; Grilled Ribeye with duchess potatoes, sauteed broccoli rabe and charred carrot tops; or Fresh Chilean Mussels with linguine, garlic herbed couscous and tomato cucumber mélange; Triple Chocolate Seduction Cake or Mile High Carrot Cake; and Cupid’s Arrow, made with Tito’s, blood orange liqueur, orange, lemon, raspberries and topped with lemon-lime soda; or a glass of Catena Mendoza Chardonnay or Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet.

Casa Don Alfonso at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis will feature a prix-fixe dinner, as well as an at-home Heart-Shaped Pizza-Making Kit for those looking for a cozy night in.

The pizza kit is available for pick-up through the month of February. There are four types to choose from: Margherita ($28), Parma Ham ($34), Nduja ($32) and Quattro Formaggi ($38). Kits will include pizza dough, house-made pizza sauce, cheese, pizza toppings, two retro Valentines to exchange with loved ones, and directions for assembling the pizza. Chicken Supreme at Casa Don Alfonso

The prix-fixe dinner ($125 per person) begins with an amuse bouche of Freshly Shucked Oysters with Citrus Citronette and a choice of antipasto or Citrus Scented Lobster Tartare. The first course includes the option of Saffron Risotto or Grandfather’s Historical Cannelloni. The entrée choice includes Traditional Eggplant Parmigiana, Neapolitan-Style Swordfish, Chicken Supreme or Beef Fillet Roulette. Dessert choices include Milk Chocolate Mousse or Espresso Tiramisu. In addition, two specialty cocktails will be offered Il Mio (vodka, Cointreau, lemon, strawberry syrup and limoncello-hibiscus foam) and Bacio d’Amore (toasted pecan-infused bourbon, chocolate bitters, dark beer syrup and a dark chocolate garnish). Indulge in a three-course meal ($70 per person) at Café la Vie at Le Méridien St. Louis Clayton on Saturday, Feb. 10, or Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Café la Vie’s three-course Valentine’s dinner includes Brioche Crusted Salmon, White Chocolate Mousse and Strawberry Ricotta Bruschetta.

The menu features a choice of Baked Oysters Bienville or Strawberry Ricotta Bruschetta, followed by a Forest Fruits Sorbet Intermezzo to cleanse the palate. For the main course, guests can select either the Brioche Crusted Salmon or the Café la Vie Land and Sea, which comes with Char-Grilled Gulf Shrimp atop a Pan Seared Petite Filet. The Fountain on Locust’s Scarlet Kiss cocktail

The Fountain on Locust will have Valentine’s Day specials from Feb. 9 to 18 with special menu items and bundle deals. Start off with the Scarlet Kiss, a sipping cocktail with raspberry liqueur, St. Germaine, lime juice and orange bitters, shaken with ice and topped with Champagne; or a Chocolate Covered Strawberry, an ice-cream martini with strawberry ice cream, 360 Chocolate Vodka and white cacao liqueur. For an entrée, try Cupid’s Ravioli, a choice of either beef or four-cheese stuffed pasta topped with marinara and Parmesan and served with a St. Louis City Salad and Garlic Bread. And it would be a sin to skip dessert: Just for the occasion, The Fountain on Locust presents Lover’s Delight, a three-scoop ice cream sundae with raspberry sorbet, Zanzibar Chocolate and Coconut Almond Joy ice creams topped with hot fudge, raspberry sauce and whipped cream.

There’s Love in the Loop at the Peacock Diner on the Delmar Loop.  

Rent the Peacock Diner’s Carousel of Love – a private booth that spins around to a wall-mounted TV where you and your sweetheart can watch a movie, slideshow of your own romance, or play a video game away from prying eyes. Valentine-themed menu offerings include a chocolate strawberry spiked shake, a Berry White Martini and red velvet pancakes.

Lafayette Square mainstay SqWires is hosting a Valentine’s brunch on Sunday, Feb. 11, at its event space, The Annex.

The spread ($38, $18 for children 12 and younger) features an omelet station, waffle station, salads, seafood, charcuterie, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, sweets and soft beverages. An unlimited bellini and bloody Mary option is available for $25. Reservations are by phone only, (314) 865-3522.
