A new 10-screen movie theater is slated to open next month at City Foundry STL.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open its doors in November on the west side of the property in Midtown St. Louis. The location is the first in St. Louis for the Austin-based cinema-eatery chain.
Alamo Drafthouse City Foundry will have 45,000 square feet of space, 10 auditoriums and more than 900 luxury recliner seats. Each theater will have top-of-the-line digital 4K projection and dynamic surround sound. The biggest theater will be equipped with 66-feet-wide curved screen with state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos sound and reclining chairs with additional legroom.
There are 37 Alamo Drafthouse locations in the U.S., with each one assigned a theme. At City Foundry, the theater’s theme is absurdist comedy, and its interior will showcase this genre of film with interactive elements throughout the space.
Alamo Drafthouse City Foundry will also have an in-house bar called “The Meaning of Bar” that will offer themed specialty cocktails, as well as local beers, wine and spirits. The food menu includes from-scratch items like burgers, pizzas, salads and desserts made with locally sourced ingredients.
Finishing touches to the cinema at City Foundry are ongoing. A specific opening date in November is expected to be announced soon.
