The Carnival season’s grand finale, Mardi Gras, is almost here – time to party hearty with people who know how to throw down.

I just happen to know a bunch who can do just that: the American Culinary Federation Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis, whose Chef’s Culinary Mardi Gras gala is Sunday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Andre’s Banquet Center South.

A lavish culinary extravaganza, Chef’s Mardi Gras is a party with a cause, a fundraiser for culinary arts scholarships and junior chef competitions. The event features St. Louis’ crème de la crème: AFC chefs who are working to create an unforgettable feast – a feast guaranteed to make the good times roll.

The annual event brings out the best Mardi Gras-themed dishes and libations in the region. It’s a must-do event for any gourmet, gourmand or self-proclaimed foodie.

The evening priced at just $45 ($400 for tables of 10), and includes specialty chef plates, an open bar, music, dancing and surprises. Mardi Gras costumes are encouraged but not required. However, there will be prizes awarded for best costumes.

Reservations must be made by Thursday, Feb. 1.
