High demand is prompting one of the most familiar names in St. Louis frozen pizza to expand its production capacity in St. Louis County.
Lucia’s Pizza, which makes Mama Lucia’s Pizza, as well as 4 Hands Brewery-inspired pizza and a handful of private label brands, has announced plans to significantly increase production at its current facility on Gravois Industrial Court in South County.
The company intends to hire 30 more full-time employees to meet demand. Lucia’s Pizza also announced that along with the increase in its workforce, it will begin to implement an employee-focusing labor model, with a three-day, 36-hour work week from Monday through Saturday. If specific requirements are achieved during the week, the company says employees will be compensated for a full 40 hours of work.
“We have created several opportunities that require a greater staffing commitment than we have had in the past. To meet the demand, we will need to almost double our current team,” said Scott Ashby, president of Lucia’s Pizza. “Borrowing the three-day, 12-hour shift format from other industries like healthcare allows employees to have more flexibility throughout their 36-hour week, while still receiving 40 hours of payment. The three days per week do not need to be served consecutively, and there will be generous breaks throughout the day.”
By switching to the new model, the company hopes to extend its daily production without having the need for a second shift. For more information on the available positions, visit the company’s official employment page.
