Inside Global Foods Market in Kirkwood

Global Foods Market in Kirkwood has issued an open call for recipes to be featured in a new cookbook to raise money for refugee families coming to St. Louis.

Global Foods hopes to publish the cookbook by the end of year, just in time for the holidays. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the International Institute of St. Louis to help incoming immigrant and refugee families have a smoother transition into the community.

“We hope this cookbook celebrates all of the incredible cultures that we have residing here in our community, while also providing home cooks with a fun way to start expanding their culinary horizons,” said Shayn Prapaisilp, chief operating officer of Global Foods Group. “This cookbook will serve as a helpful guide for customers just learning how to shop in an international market, along with new and exciting recipes for experienced cooks to try at home.”

The only requirement for entry is that any recipe submitted must include ingredients that can be found at Global Foods Market. Submissions are currently being accepted and can be entered through this Google form.

In addition to submissions from the public, the cookbook will also feature international recipes from local chefs, restaurants and from the company’s founding family’s recipes passed down from generation to generation. Each participant is also encouraged to share a story, fond memory or family photos to be included in the book.
