Do you have photographs of historic Gaslight Square? The Muny needs your help!

The Muny is seeking photo submissions of the bygone St. Louis entertainment district to accompany its upcoming production of “Smokey Joe’s Café.” The Broadway hit, which features classic rock ‘n’ roll and R&B songs by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, is making its Muny debut this summer as part of the 2020 season.

Ideal photos include people enjoying Gaslight Square, taverns, cabaret action shots, performers, restaurants, sidewalk cafes, antique shops, nightlife streetscapes and other related images. Submitted photos will be considered for use as part of show promotion, a pre-show element or featured in the production.

Submissions are being accepted through Wednesday, April 1, online at muny.org/smokeyjoescafe/photo-submission; or by mail or in-person at The Muny in Forest Park, #1 Theatre Drive, St. Louis, MO 63112.

“Smokey Joe’s Café” is Broadway’s longest-running musical revue. Set in St. Louis’ Gaslight Square, it features more than 35 hit tunes from the ‘50s and ‘60s, including “Hound Dog,” “There Goes My Baby,” “Love Potion No. 9,” “Spanish Harlem” and “Stand by Me.”

“Smokey Joe’s Café” runs July 14 to 20 at The Muny. For more information, visit muny.org
