Paint the Town Red this Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re out on the town celebrating or cozying up at home, we’ve sampled a few Valentine-themed offerings that’ll be sure to please. So, why not spread the love this Valentine’s Day – or better yet, treat yourself!

KNEAD Bakehouse + Provisions

Since opening in South St. Louis in 2017, KNEAD has built quite the reputation for its sourdough. So, it’s really no surprise that its Valentine’s Day sweet treat showcases some of that sourdough goodness. KNEAD’s Sourdough Cheesecake duo ($12) includes Chocolate Strawberry Rose cheesecake atop a sourdough shortbread sugar cookie base and Turtle cheesecake with caramel, chocolate and pecan, also sitting atop its signature cookie base. Online orders are being accepted for store pickup on Saturday, Feb. 12.

Andy’s Frozen Custard

Andy’s LoveMonster (aka SnowMonster) Concrete

For fans of Andy’s Frozen Custard, you’ll love menu favorites that are doing double duty for Valentine’s Day: The LoveMonster Concrete marries strawberries and melted chocolate chips with frozen custard for a flirty, pink love concoction. The Cupid’s Cookie Casanova Sundae tops frozen custard with warm chocolate chip cookies, hot fudge or crème caramel, and a cherry. And Andy’s Strawberry Sweetheart Shake, with juicy strawberries and sauce blended with vanilla frozen custard, is one of the best around – there, we said it. Founded in Osage Beach, Missouri, in 1986, Andy’s has several locations across the St. Louis area.

Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery

Love Handles ice cream from Clementine’s

And just because there can never be enough ice cream, we also love the good stuff from Clementine’s, which now has six locations across the St. Louis area. Featured flavors for Valentine’s Day include Love Handles, with loads of dark chocolate, salty pretzels and dark chocolate brownies. Or get a little “naughty” with the new Red Velvet (Godiva Dark Chocolate liqueur and crème de cocoa) and Cinful Bunz (a cinnamon bun-inspired confection with warming cinnamon, butterscotch schnapps, Rumchata, vanilla, brown sugar and butter). There’s also a new vegan option this year: Rose Cream, a rich, non-dairy coconut base mixed with natural vegan butter and ribbons of house-made vegan hot fudge.

Juniper

Skate Wing is one of two featured entrée selections at Juniper

Dinner options abound for Valentine’s weekend, such as Juniper’s four-course tasting menu ($65 per guest) featuring delectable Oysters with Blood Orange Granita and Caviar; Fermented Carrot with Miso and Togarashi; Roasted Hen of the Woods Mushroom on Red Grits with Popped and Creole Spiced Sorghum; and choice of Beef Tenderloin with Celery Root, Parsnip, Grilled Onion, Garlic and Fermented Soy Caramel, or Skate Wing with Sauteed Spinach and Trout Roe Vin Blanc. For dessert, there’s Red Velvet Cake. A beverage pairing option ($35 per guest) is also offered. The special menu is available for dine-in or to-go, on Friday, Feb. 11, and Saturday, Feb. 12.

The venerable steak house has a Valentine’s Week Sweetheart Special for 2 at its Chesterfield and downtown St. Louis restaurants. For $160, two guests can choose from a three-course prix fixe menu that includes a Caesar salad, a Surf & Turf entrée with an 8-ounce filet and two large shrimp, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, and raspberry chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The menu is available for dine-in guests from Feb. 10 to 15. Reservations at both Chesterfield and downtown St. Louis locations are recommended.
